Why the Czech Republic

An EU degree without UK or Canadian price tags

The Czech Republic is one of the few EU countries where a serious degree is still within reach of a middle-income Nigerian family. It sits inside the EU and the Schengen Area, tuition at public universities is free if you study in Czech, and the cost of living is well below Western Europe.

  • Tuition-free public universities for programmes taught in Czech, which is what the preparatory language year exists for.
  • English-taught degrees are paid, but typically cost a fraction of comparable UK, US or Canadian programmes.
  • EU and Schengen access once you hold Czech residence.
  • Most students can work alongside an accredited programme without a separate work permit. We confirm this for your specific course.
  • A route that continues from study into employment and, in time, permanent residence.

What we will never promise you

This industry has a trust problem, and it is earned. Plenty of agents take money for outcomes nobody can deliver. So here is our side of it, in writing.

If another agent promises you any of the things on this list, that is not confidence. That is a warning sign, and you should keep your money.

How we work instead

  • A guaranteed visa. Every decision belongs to the Czech authorities. Anyone guaranteeing approval is either lying or planning something you do not want your name attached to.
  • A "special contact" at the Embassy. There is no back door, no expedite fee, no friend on the inside. Applications succeed on the strength of the file.
  • Documents we both know are false. No invented bank balances, no bought admission letters, no fabricated employment. Ask us for this and we will end the engagement.
  • A processing time we do not control. Appointment availability and decision times sit with the Embassy and the Ministry of the Interior. We will give you the statutory limits and keep you informed, not invented dates.
  • Legal representation. We are consultants, not a law firm. Where a case genuinely needs a Czech lawyer, we say so and help you find one.

Common questions

The questions we get most

Not to start. There are degree programmes taught entirely in English, and those are open to you without any Czech.

Czech matters for two reasons. First, tuition at public universities is free only for programmes taught in Czech, which is why the one-year preparatory language course is such a common route: you spend a year reaching the required level, then study free. Second, daily life, part-time work and dealing with offices all get significantly easier with the language.

For planning, work on the order of ₦10 million, before tuition. Treat it as orientation only. The binding figure is set in Czech crowns by Czech law and updated periodically, so the naira equivalent moves with both the Czech threshold and the exchange rate.

Two things matter as much as the amount. The form the evidence takes, and the duration: the money needs to stay in place for roughly three months while the Ministry considers your case, so this is not a snapshot taken on the day of your appointment.

We calculate your actual current figure at the consultation. This is the requirement most applications stumble on, and it is not one you can talk your way around.

More on proof of funds

Plan in academic years, not weeks. For the study route, the sequence of nostrification, admission, document legalisation and translation, an embassy appointment, and then the decision itself typically means starting six to twelve months before the intake you are aiming at.

Family reunification is longer. Czech law allows a substantially longer statutory period for those decisions, and it is routinely used. We will give you the current statutory limits for your route at the consultation rather than an optimistic guess.

Generally yes. Students in accredited programmes at recognised Czech institutions are normally able to take employment without applying for a separate work permit.

The important caveat: this depends on your specific programme and institution being accredited in the right way, and the rules differ for language-preparatory courses versus degree programmes. We check your particular case rather than assuming, and we will not encourage you to build your budget on part-time earnings you have not secured yet.

Because Czech authorities do not accept ordinary translations of official documents. They require a translation by a court-appointed translator, bound and stamped, which carries legal weight in the Czech Republic.

A cheap translation from an ordinary agency is one of the most common and most avoidable reasons a file gets rejected. It also usually has to happen in the right order relative to legalisation. Do it in the wrong sequence and you pay twice.
